Hey everyone! My name is Kara and I am a Co-President of the Chemistry Students’ Association. This is my second year with the CSA and I am in my third year of a Chemistry BSc! I have been able to meet wonderful people both in the CSA and in the Department of Chemistry. Outside of Chemistry I love sports and music. Also, as a side note… If you ever feel in the mood to hear a chemistry joke you should know that I have a solid repertoire and pretty much live in our office so feel free to stop by!

Hello! I'm Janet and I am VP Administration for the Chemistry Students' Association. I am in my 4th and final year of my BSc with a Chemistry major and Biosci minor. This will be my first year with CSA, but I am excited for what's to come! My academic passions are environmental science, instrumentation, and biological systems. In addition to academics, I love creating and listening to music in my free time. I always want to talk, and I can't wait to meet everyone! Hello Everyone! My name is Yoojin and I am VP Events of the Chemistry Students' Association. This is my third year in Chemistry and first time being part of CSA. I love how being involved with CSA allows me to get to know people who have the same interests as me. On my free time, I like to play some sports (dodgeball, basketball, etc) or go to new restaurants with friends. Sometimes I also love to just sit and watch Netflix. Hi everyone, Namaste! My name is Bhawyanth and I am the VP Events of the Chemistry Student's Association for this year. I am an international student from India currently in my second year of BSc Chemistry Honors. I like to keep myself occupied by playing a few south Indian percussion instruments and if you ever feel like jamming with me, don't hesitate. Hey there! I’m Abbie and I am VP Finance for the CSA this year. I’m currently in my third year of Honours Chemistry, and this is my first year with the CSA. I love all things organic chemistry and cats, and I would love to chat with you about either of them! In my free time I enjoy officiating softball, baseball, and basketball. I’ve also lived in residence for the last 3 years, so I’m super passionate about the Lister community and I have so many fun stories! Hello everyone, my name is Xingyu Fan and I am VP internal of the CSA this year. I am super excited to be part of CSA and looking forward to meeting with everybody. This is my fifth-year in the Chemistry specialization program with one year of internship experience. Throughout the program, I really enjoy biochemistry and instrumental chemistry. In my free time, I love doing paintings, drawings and swimming! Hi there! As you can see above, my name is Michael and I am the VP external for the Chemistry Student Association this year. Currently, I am going into my fourth year in a Bachelor of Science Chemistry major and this is my first time being a part of the CSA. A little to know about me is that I am an active gym goer and also enjoy climbing and running in my spare time. I plan to be around the office often, so please feel free to stop by and talk if you have questions about chemistry or anything really. If you have questions but don’t have time to stop in, I am also active on my email and try to answer right away too!

Dr. Rylan Lundgren
Rylan was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB and completed his B.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Manitoba. During his undergraduate studies he worked in the labs of Prof. Mario Bieringer and Prof. Deryn Fogg (Ottawa). Rylan conducted doctoral research under the guidance of Prof. Mark Stradiotto at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS where he studied the design and application of P,N-ligands for platinum group metal-catalyzed reactions. This included the development of the DalPhos family ligands. As an NSERC Postdoctoral research fellow in lab of Prof. Gregory Fu at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and later the California Institute of Technology, Rylan studied transition metal, organocatalytic, and photoinduced methodologies for the synthesis and functionalization of amines. In July 2013 he began as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta.
